CHICAGO FIRE: Derek Haas and Andrea Newman Preview Stellaride’s Wedding, Casey and Brett’s Return, and More

It’s a Very CHICAGO FIRE Wedding on the Wednesday, May 25 season finale of the NBC drama, as Kelly Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Stella Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo) set out to tie the knot.

But what’s a wedding without a few old friends? Among the guests are Casey (former series regular Jesse Spencer, who left the series in episode 200) and Brett (Kara Killmer), who are back in town after spending some quality time together in Oregon.

What’s in store for the finale? CHICAGO FIRE executive producers Derek Haas and Andrea Newman offered a few (vague) teases, via email, about the hour…

What can you tease about Casey’s return and how he’s been adjusting to life away from Chicago?
Casey has been thriving in Portland, both on a personal and a professional level. He’s been a godsend for the Darden boys and has acclimated quickly to fighting forest fires in and around Oregon.

How is Brett feeling about returning to work? Obviously weddings are a time for couples to reassess their relationships, but how are Casey and Brett looking at their future?
You hit the nail on the head. Brett and Casey are going to have to take stock of where they are as a couple and we’ll see some of that discussion in the finale.

We know, in theory, where Kidd and Severide will get married, but how much of the other wedding prep will be on-screen?
The wedding itself is not going to happen the way anyone thinks it will [be] happening. We can’t really answer those questions because they spoil the fun.

Without revealing who the mystery guest is for the finale, what is the best tease you can offer about their identity?
An actress we’ve enjoyed on set whenever she has appeared in the past!
