BIG SKY Promotes J. Anthony Pena, Adds Henry Ian Cusick, Seth Gabel, Luke Mitchell, and More

BIG SKY is rounding out its season 3 cast: J. Anthony Pena has been upped to series regular in the upcoming third season, with Henry Ian Cusick, Seth Gabel, Luke Mitchell, Anirudh Pisharody, and Madalyn Horcher joining the ABC drama, a rep for the show confirms. They join previously announced cast additions Jensen Ackles and Reba.

According to the network, in season 3, “private detective Cassie Dewell (Kylie Bunbury), undersheriff Jenny Hoyt (Katheryn Winnick), and newly appointed sheriff Beau Arlen (Jensen Ackles) maintain order in Helena, Montana with their unparalleled investigative skills. But when a local backcountry trip led by charismatic outfitter Sunny Barnes (Reba McEntire) goes awry, the trio faces their most formidable mystery yet – in which no camper can be trusted and where danger lurks around every jagged rock and gnarled tree.”

Pena, who joined the series in season 2, plays Deputy Mo Poppernak, “Jenny’s chatty, upbeat partner at the Sheriff’s Department. Always eager to brighten others’ days with his long-winded anecdotes, Poppernak is nonetheless an indispensable right-hand man.”

Here’s what you need to know about the new characters:

Henry Ian Cusick plays Avery, “a well-meaning, successful tech entrepreneur who books himself and his stepdaughter Emily on Sunny Barnes’ latest camping trip. Despite his unfamiliarity with the outdoors, Avery hopes this excursion will help him and Emily bond.”

Luke Mitchell plays Cormac, “backcountry outfitter Sunny Barnes’ devilishly handsome, charming son. He’s the worker bee on her camping trips, making sure guests are always equipped and comfortable. Yet he also serves as Sunny’s watchful second set of eyes.”

Seth Gabel plays Walter, who “lives alone in a cabin in the Montana wilderness, whiling his time away with hunting and woodworking. His unpredictable nature can make for menacing run-ins with stray hikers.”

Anirudh Pisharody plays Luke, “a city slicker whose girlfriend Paige dragged him onto Sunny Day Excursions for his birthday. He starts the camping trip with a bad attitude… and possibly a secret to hide.”

Madalyn Horcher plays Paige, “a New Yorker who booked herself and her boyfriend Luke on Sunny’s camping trip. Her and Luke’s arguments about their birthday vacation mask a much darker issue underlying their relationship.”
