CHICAGO P.D.: Jesse Lee Soffer to Exit

CHICAGO P.D. is losing an original series regular: Jesse Lee Soffer will exit this fall, a rep for the show has confirmed. According to Variety, who was first to report the news, Soffer’s character Jay Halstead will exit this fall.

“I want to thank the incredible fans for their unwavering support during the past 10 years and want to express my deepest gratitude to Dick Wolf and everyone at Wolf Entertainment, Peter Jankowski, Matt Olmstead, Derek Haas, Michael Brandt, Rick Eid, Gwen Sigan, NBC, Universal Television, my fellow castmates and our incredible crew,” Soffer said in a statement. “To create this hour drama week after week has been a labor of love by everyone who touches the show. I will always be proud of my time as Det. Jay Halstead.”

Halstead has deep ties within the ONE CHICAGO world, as he’s married to CPD’s Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiradakos), and his brother, Will (Nick Gehlfuss), has been a central character on CHICAGO MED from he start. No details about how Halstead will leave have been announced yet.
