About Last Night…AMERICA’S GOT TALENT and PASSWORD
September 14, 2022 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!
AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: Here’s the thing: Drake Milligan is very, very good, but I will be a little frustrated if he wins. He, easily, could have won on THE VOICE or AMERICAN IDOL; he’s charismatic as hell, talented, and should have been able to make waves.
But on a show like this? Filled with great acts who can only win here? I’m rooting for them. Celia Munoz, Nicolas Ribs, Kristy Sellars, Mayyas, and Yu Hojin were all great. Honestly, I have no clue who will win.
I still don’t think this format benefited the acts; more time with them might have made things a bit more clear cut about who actually deserved this big prize.
PASSWORD: Jimmy’s “Kermit” clue was excellent.
Tony Hale accidentally getting two ARRESTED DEVELOPMENT-like clues with Army and dove in the first game’s final round made me laugh. I’m sure it was intentional, and I’m glad he got them, even if we didn’t get an on-air acknowledgement. Mimi gave a good clue with “foolish” for “silly,” but that’s a hard word to try and describe. (And, hey, “banana” was used in game 2, so chalk that up for another AD reference.)
Jimmy and Tony not getting unicorn was laugh out loud funny. Their civilian players’ reactions were absolutely perfect.
Also, my goodness they got “chips” from “crisps”?! I was thinking “cookie,” whoops.
