CHICAGO FIRE: Derek Haas and Andrea Newman Preview Javi Visiting the Firehouse, Gallo’s New Romantic Interest

Firehouse 51 gets an unexpected visitor on the Wednesday, September 28 episode of CHICAGO FIRE: Javi (Carlos S. Sanchez )

“It’s really awesome and it’s really fun,” CHICAGO FIRE co-showrunner Andrea Newman says of the Derek Haas-penned episode, “Every Scar Tells a Story.” “It also reveals the emotional depth of Javi and Cruz’ relationship, too, in a way that’s touching. But it’s a lot of fun and funny.”

“And the guys in the firehouse, they’re family,” she continues. “We see it whenever we’re in firehouses in Chicago when somebody’s kid comes—it’s everybody’s kid. So, that’s going on, but there’s also lots of fun and surprises in his day or two days at the firehouse.”

On a decidedly more adult note—with Violet (Hanako Greensmith) and Hawkins (Jimmy Nicholas) taking their romance to the next level—Gallo (Alberto Rosende) attempts to move on…to mixed results.

“Let’s just say Gallo is not one to drown his sorrows and take himself out of the playing field,” Haas says with a laugh. “He is going to hook up with someone who, as Andrea always describes her, is ‘a lot of fun.’ A lot of little trouble.”

One couple where things are going decidedly better? Newlyweds Severide (Taylor Kinney) and Kidd (Miranda Rae Mayo). “I can tell you [their dynamic is] not going to be any cooler than it was—it is going to be red hot,” Haas teases. “I’m sorry, when you look at these two actors, it’s undeniable, this chemistry. So nothing really changes from the heat factor level [this season.]”
