About Last Night…THE VOICE, THE ROOKIE: FEDS, and NEW AMSTERDAM
October 26, 2022 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!
THE VOICE: “Into the Unknown” was one of the hardest songs of the entire Battle, and I am deeply frustrated Omar Jose Cardona and Lana Love couldn’t both make it through. I get everyone likely used up their saves and steals by that portion of filming, but poor Lana.
THE ROOKIE: FEDS: This was a lot of fun, as Simone and Carter got trapped on an island…and were forced to try and fend for themselves. (I mean, sorry to Carter, who eventually learned he got betrayed by a friend/colleague.) It was nice to see Simone hold her own to buy a burner phone and get in touch with the team. (Plus, sneak away from the people trying to track her down.) She’s coming into her own as an agent.
Literally laughed out loud that the diamond thieves used the names “Thelma” and “Louise” and their mark didn’t put it together.
NEW AMSTERDAM: I missed Casey a whole, whole lot. His return was by far the best part of the episode—I mean, if you exclude the vomit that came after a bunch of employees ate the tainted cream cheese.
It keeps hitting me how disjointed the show frequently feels. It almost feels like we’re watching four different mini-shows within the main show, and rarely do they really matter to each other. I don’t know if it’ll change as we get closer to the end—and we’re basically halfway there—but I miss the team feeling like a team. It wasn’t all of them working together, but even something like the (horrifying) child bride storyline felt like a full-ensemble story. I hope we get more of that before the show wraps up.
