CHICAGO MED Recap: Ethan Has a Surprise Announcement

[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Wednesday, November 16 episode of CHICAGO MED, “Everyone’s Fighting a Battle You Know Nothing About.”]

With CHICAGO MED’s Ethan (Brian Tee) leaving in December, the Wednesday, November 16 episode of the medical drama set the groundwork for a potential happy ending for the long-running character.

The doctors were shocked to discover wedding invitations in the mail—Ethan and his on-again love April (Yaya DaCosta) are getting married on December 7. (Which also marks the air date of Tee’s final episode.)

While his friends gave him loving grief for not spilling the beans about the wedding before the invites went out—the duo was engaged prior to their breakup; they reunited this fall, with things mostly playing out off-screen—Ethan admitted to Charles (Oliver Platt) that his father’s recent death made him reassess the man he wants to be and the life he wants to have.

“I guess I got closer to the guy she was holding out for,” Ethan said.
