About Last Night…THE MASKED SINGER

Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!
THE MASKED SINGER: While I absolutely hated the format of the season, this was one of the more interesting finales the show has had. Pairing a powerhouse singer with a trio is in some ways unfair…a trio can harmonize and do things a solo act simply can’t do. But Amber Riley, AKA the Harp? BOY, can she sing. She was always incredible on GLEE, but what a treat to see how her voice has matured and gotten even stronger in the years since.
And, look, Wilson Phillips were absolutely no slouches and they had quite a run. They did a great job, and it was lovely they’ve reunited and are having fun with it. But the only right outcome this season was Riley winning it all. I know she’s more than cover songs (and we got probably 100 of them with her vocals on GLEE), but I would buy an album of her songs from THE MASKED SINGER ASAP if she released those covers.
Going forward, I really hope THE MASKED SINGER goes back to its old format or finds something else as a compromise. The best/right act won, but there were a lot of messes along the way.
