Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: Look, the timing can’t be helped—given it was a film tie-in—but having to do a Whitney Houston duet in order to get to the finale is absolutely brutal. Barely anyone can actually do Whitney songs justice in life, and having to do a duet and accommodate two singing styles sure is something. (Honestly, it was a major victory no one butchered anything, but we actually got a number of good covers from it.)

But, overall, it was a pretty incredible two hours. Songs that shouldn’t have worked somehow did (how long was Omar’s final note on “My Heart Will Go On”!? Kim somehow made “Summertime” feel hers—an incredible feat given its frequent presence on singing competitions—and Morgan’s emotions only enhanced her “Always Remember Us This Way”), and it’s going to be a brutal cut on Tuesday to get to the finale.
