FBI: INTERNATIONAL’s Fly Team officially has a problem in the form of Dandridge (Michael Torpey).

Jamie (Heida Reed) showed up to work in the fall finale, “Hail Mary,” only to discover Scott (Luke Kleintank) was still absent. Dandridge informed her Scott was doing “supervisor in service training,” and they had extended his time at Quantico. That left Jamie in charge of the team—with Dandridge requesting she keep him looped in.

When Jamie told her colleagues about what was going on with Scott, they were skeptical about Dandridge’s explanation. “That sounds made up,” Vo said. “And boring.” (Off-screen, Kleintank is missing time on the show for a good reason: he and his wife had a baby.)

With Dandridge making it clear he’s sticking around, “he’s a complicated antagonist from within the FBI,” showrunner Derek Haas acknowledges to Give Me My Remote. “I love those irritants that come in. And why I say he’s complicated is because you kind of don’t know what his angle is—at least it’s not revealed for a little while. Why is he running Forrester around Europe, and not letting him do his job? He keeps it under the veneer of, ‘Just keep me posted.’ He’s got a smile on his face and says, ‘Good, good, good.’ That’s his kind of trademark…and we’re going to just grow more and more weary as we deal with him.”

When the show returns in 2023, the Fly Team is going to have to figure out how to work around Dandridge and his restrictions.

“Well, I think they’re gonna start to get wise to his scheming,” Haas teases. “And they’re going to be subversive about dealing with him, while they’re trying to figure out, ‘How do we solve this problem?’ Obviously their loyalty is with Forrester, and they don’t really like having someone who maybe doesn’t have the best intentions for even solving a case in the way that we would. So, no, they don’t have a lot of sympathy for this guy. And there’s going to be a power struggle coming.”
