The CHICAGO MED Bosses Preview a Triangle (Or Quad?!) ‘of a Different Sort’ Between Dean-Hannah-Archer
January 10, 2023 by Marisa Roffman
As the doctors on CHICAGO MED are dealing with a new boss in charge, Dean Archer (Steven Weber) still has a lingering health issue he’s attempting to keep undercover: he has kidney disease.
“He will be leaning on Hannah” throughout his ordeal, CHICAGO MED co-showrunner Diane Frolov tells Give Me My Remote.
But while he intends to keep it quiet, “it will be a struggle to keep it under wraps,” co-showrunner Andrew Schneider says. “And, finally, he won’t be able to keep it under wraps.”
And while Hannah (Jessy Schram) has had some chemistry with Dean, as well as an established history with Will (Nick Gehlfuss), when asked if the dynamic was more romantic or something else, Frolov says, “I’d say it’s a triangle of a different sort.”
“It might be a quadrangle,” Schneider adds.
While the EPs declined to expand on who the fourth player in the mix would be, they did allow that new romances—outside of Dr. Charles’ (Oliver Platt) blossoming love story—are on the horizon for the show.
“It’s very likely Will will have a romance this season,” Schneider says. “And Crockett has been without romance for a while, so keep your fingers crossed there.”
Plus, if they have their way, the hospital will get a visit from a familiar face in 2023.
“There’s a good chance…we have one of the [former cast members] we’d like to bring back,” Frolov teases. And who might that be? All she will preview is that the person on their wish list is “a beloved character.”
