About Last Night…NOT DEAD YET and A MILLION LITTLE THINGS
February 9, 2023 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!
NOT DEAD YET: I love a looooot of the cast, but the start of the show didn’t click for me the way I was hoping it would. Comedies can notoriously take a bit of time to find their groove, so I’ll keep up with it for a bit, but given how insane Wednesday nights tend to be, it’ll take a major change for me to make it “must see” night-of.
A MILLION LITTLE THINGS: Oh, my heart. Gary. Poor Gary. Losing his dad when he’s about to become a dad has to be a roller coaster, but the added stress of knowing he’ll be contending with cancer for the rest of his life? Sigh. I know the news is good, all things considered. But…it’s as good as possible, not actually good news. We’ve seen Gary be such a wonderful surrogate dad/uncle to Danny and Sophie; I hope his kid gets that experience, too.
But I absolutely loved how the friends stepped up for Gary and Maggie when they realized he was sick again. This is who they are, through thick and thin. I’m going to miss this show when it ends.
Rome and his father also broke my heart. I hope Rome is able to soak up as much time with his dad as possible—including literally filming his dad, so he doesn’t “lose” the memories—and get closure before the inevitable happens.
