LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME Scoop: Ellen Burstyn’s Return Officially Set; Karen David to Guest Star

Thursday, April 27 will bring several returns to the LAW & ORDER franchise.

After being off-screen all season, Ellen Burstyn will reprise her role of Bernie Stabler that night on ORGANIZED CRIME (at 10/9c), Give Me My Remote can officially reveal. (Burstyn has been filming THE EXORCIST, which recently wrapped.)

But it’s not exactly the happiest of reasons: In “A Diplomatic Solution,” Elliot (Christopher Meloni) has to contend with Bernie’s “increasing need for support.” Bernie initially moved in with the Stablers in season 2 when her son realized she couldn’t live by herself; in light of her absence this year, Elliot mentioned back in November that she was on a month-long tour of staying with the grandkids. (She was also due to be a part of the family dinner Elliot mentioned to Eli on the Thursday, March 30 episode.)

The timing could be better for Elliot, though, as OCCB has a high-profile case on their hands: A UN diplomat (played by FEAR THE WALKING DEAD and GALAVANT vet Karen David) survives an assassination attempt, and the task force has to figure out what group is behind the continued threat.

Things are equally as tense that night on LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT (at 9/8c), as Maxwell (Betty Buckley) returns in “Bend the Law.” Unfortunately for all, things hit close to home for the trial division chief: her husband gets entangled in the squad’s case.
