QUANTUM LEAP: Martin Gero and Caitlin Bassett Preview the ‘Exciting’ and ‘Deeply Emotional’ Season Finale
March 31, 2023 by Marisa Roffman
QUANTUM LEAP’s first season finale takes Ben (Raymond Lee) to an unfamiliar place: the future.
“For us, it’s a very unique and special occurrence,” executive producer Martin Gero explains to Give Me My Remote in the video below. “It literally took all season to gain momentum to go to the future. And you’ll quickly find out that the machine is not built for that…so Ben can’t stay there very long. And so for us, it was something we knew we had to do. And it was exciting for us to figure out the ‘why.’ And we’re really pleased with the ‘why’ of it, honestly…it’s a very special one-time occurrence. We don’t have plans to do it in season 2, so enjoy the future while you can.”
Outside of that, there is very little that can be teased about the Monday, April 3 episode, “Judgment Day.”
“It’s our best episode of the season, I think,” Gero teases. “And it is a culmination of everything we’ve been setting up…we’ve been working to this moment all season and…if you’ve watched the season, it’s all payoff. It’s all payoff. It’s all exciting. It’s deeply emotional and fun.”
For her part, Caitlin Bassett (who plays Addison) echoes the sentiment. “It’s gonna be big,” she gushes. “It’s gonna be big, and it’s gonna be exciting. It was so much fun to do. Buckle up, it’s a ride.”
QUANTUM LEAP, Mondays, 10/9c, NBC
