On Friday, September 10, 1993, Fox debuted THE X-FILES. Now, ahead of the show’s 30th anniversary, Give Me My Remote is looking back at all 11 seasons (and the two feature films) in a new daily series Take Two.
If you’ve read About Last Night, this will be formatted in a similar way: Each episode will get its own subsection/reaction, though in this case there may be slight spoilers or alluding to what comes ahead in the series. In the event a major spoiler is discussed, there will be a warning to be extra safe. Each Take Two will cover approximately 5 episodes and will wrap up the Friday before the show’s 30th birthday.
(I’ll also note how I’m watching the episodes, because some of the streaming platforms have utilized syndicated cuts of this show.)

ALMOST PARADISE returns on Friday, July 21, with all ten episodes of its sophomore season dropping at once on Freevee.
For Alex Walker (Christian Kane), who moved to the Philippines—post-traumatic incident at work and with his health a concern—as a way to find a new lease on life. He’s kept busy doing odd jobs with the local police, Ernesto Alamares (Art Acuña) and Kai Mendoza (Samantha Richelle)—and attempting to run a gift shop at a hotel. (He’s more successful with the police work, for better or worse.)
But in season 2—which was co-showrun by Dean Devlin and Gary Rosen—Alex has to contend with faces from his past, big decisions, and possible new allies. And in an exclusive clip from an upcoming episode, Alex tries to befriend Ernesto’s father…who is absolutely not impressed.

Comments Off on KILLING IT: Craig Robinson Comedy Gets August Season 2 Launch
KILLING IT—the Peacock comedy starring Craig Robinson, Claudia O’Doherty, and Rell Battle—will return for its second season on Thursday, August 17. All eight episodes will drop at once.
“Well, we’re back for more KILLING IT,” Robinson said in a statement. (Peacock noted it was written on June 9, pre-SAG-AFTRA strike.) “It’s the same wild rollercoaster as last year — an ambitious, complex exploration of life and pursuit of the American Dream mixed in with some of the stupidest jokes on television. We got so many amazing guest stars this season, while returning all our old favorites. Except for the snakes. There are many less snakes this year. But don’t worry, there’s plenty more hurdles to jump through, like deadly snails.”

As pickets have sprung up over Los Angeles and New York (and in hubs across the world) to support the ongoing writer and actor strike, honks and cheers frequently pour in from people and vehicles passing by. But as THE X-FILES vet David Duchovny started his interview with Give Me My Remote, unexpected voices lent their support: kids on a passing school bus.
“Strike, strike, strike!” they chanted from their open windows, as it drove past the picket line, with a number of kids pumping their fists in support.
“Well, there you go,” Duchovny said with a laugh. “The youth.”

In 2012, NBC debuted the Matthew Perry-led comedy GO ON. The series followed Perry’s Ryan King in the aftermath of his wife’s death, as he (eventually) learned to embrace a grief support group—it was charming, but dark; grounded, but genuinely funny. It served as a FRIENDS reunion for Perry and GO ON creator Scott Silveri, but also boasted its own impressive ensemble (featuring John Cho, Laura Benanti, Julie White, Suzy Nakamura, Tyler James Williams, Brett Gelman, Sarah Baker, Tonita Castro, Bill Cobbs, and Allison Miller).
