About Last Night…CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD, BIG BROTHER, and $100,000 PYRAMID

Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

CELEBRITY FAMILY FEUD: Okay, when they asked for the Mount Rushmore of game show hosts…how was Steve Harvey not number 1? (Alex Trebeck should be number 1, to be clear, but with this show, I would have thought Steve was an easy number 1 answer.)

BIG BROTHER: Oh, things are getting messy fast. Cirie and Jared could be extremely formidable, or a huge hindrance to each other’s games. Like, on paper, the fact that Cirie is a multi-season vet of another reality series should make her an obvious target.

And then there’s the Izzy of it all. It makes it kind of delightfully insane that Izzy is such a Cirie superfan that she recognized Jared is her son. If Cirie/Jared/Izzy can actually pull this secret off, it could make them a wildly compelling team to watch early on.

It’s a bummer that Kirsten tried playing the game so hard, so fast, because, yes, it puts a very, very easy target on her back. She couldn’t know that Jared and Cirie were going to talk openly, but now no one is trusting her. We’ll see how this shakes out.

$100,000 PYRAMID: Robert Herjavec is good at the game, but he’s just slow at it, which is not helpful in actually going far/winning it all.

It’s been really distracting how long ago these episodes were filmed. It’s one thing if you have one one-off comment that clearly dates the episode. But this episode referred to Ben Affleck as Jennifer Lopez’s boyfriend, Jo Kay and Chelsea Handler being a current couple, and a line about everyone loving Lizzo. If you’re going to hold the episodes for well over a year (given the Jo/Chelsea breakup and Ben/J.Lo wedding were both more than a year ago) and be this pop culture referring, maybe find a way to cut this stuff out if things change??

I’d also like to argue “things you do daily” is a hard thing to give clues to. There’s not an easy answer, with an obvious one or two things that are sure to give the other player the right context. Alas.
