Joe Henderson Shares How LUCIFER Can Be a Template for Streaming Shows Post-Strike

Comments Off on Joe Henderson Shares How LUCIFER Can Be a Template for Streaming Shows Post-Strike
LUCIFER was a rarity of a show: The Tom Ellis-led procedural drama started on Fox, performing solidly…but still got canceled at the end of season 3. Then Netflix swooped in, ordering season 4 and then an intended final fifth season…only for the streamer to decide it actually wanted season 6, too, which served as the end-end of the series.
And though half of the series was produced for a streaming platform, the LUCIFER bosses were able to replicate much of the traditional network production process for the show during its entire run.
“We were very lucky,” LUCIFER co-showrunner Joe Henderson tells Give Me My Remote. “We were a network show that went on to streaming and we kept our exact model, which means that we overlapped the writers’ room with production. And I think that proves it works.”
QUANTUM LEAP Season 2 Trailer Finds Ben in Egypt, at the Witch Trials, and…with a UFO?!

Comments Off on QUANTUM LEAP Season 2 Trailer Finds Ben in Egypt, at the Witch Trials, and…with a UFO?!
When QUANTUM LEAP returns for season 2, the show picks up in the aftermath of Ben (Raymond Lee) attempting to jump home.
“I don’t think it’s a spoiler to say that Ben doesn’t leap home,” showrunner Martin Gero previously shared. “And so for us, it’s exciting because it’s kind of unknown territory. This first season, Ben, Janis, and Future!Ian, they didn’t know exactly where he was going to land as he went, but they kind of had a path plotted. Whereas now, we don’t have that. So it’s very much more in keeping with the original show, where Ben is kind of just in the great unknown of time. And where he’s gonna go next and why is kind of a mystery. There was always something kind of mystic in the first incarnation of the show, and I think we get back into that in a real way in season 2.”
Cehck out the new trailer for season 2, as Ben visits Egypt in 1961, 1992’s Koreatown (AKA the Los Angeles Riots), 1949’s New Mexico (AKA a UFO?!), the witch trials in 1692 Massachusetts, and more… Read more

Noah Wyle has been a regular on the picket lines since the WGA went on strike in May (SAG-AFTRA joined them, officially, with their own strike in July).
“I think there’s increased pressure to try and get to an endpoint,” Wyle tells Give Me My Remote in the video below. “These [SAG-AFTRA] waivers really have a big effect on everybody’s morale. [The] decision for Drew Barrymore to keep her show going I think was a catalytic event, and hopefully will bring more people out to remind everybody, those who are working and who aren’t, that we all stand on the shoulders of people who’ve been out here on these lines securing these protections for us to make those livelihoods that we are making.”

A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN debuted on Prime Video in August of 2022, quickly amassing a fervent fanbase and praise. But despite the apparent (streamers don’t release ratings) success, Prime Video still waited nine months to announce a renewal…for a short, final season of the series.
While not exactly what fans had been hoping for—at a time when queer, inclusive stories tend to fall by the wayside—it at least seemed like there would be a chance for the story to wrap up.
But then a final twist was delivered in August—Prime Video opted to not move forward with the planned final episodes, citing the ongoing WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. (Co-creator/star Abbi Jacobson quickly corrected things on Instagram, calling the false blame on the necessary labor movement “bulls— and cowardly.”)
