NBC Orders an Additional THE IRRATIONAL Season 1 Episode
November 17, 2023 by Marisa Roffman
THE IRRATIONAL’s first season is expanding: NBC has ordered an additional episode of the freshman drama, bringing its season 1 order up to 11 episodes.
The Jesse L. Martin-led series filmed seven episodes before shutting down production during the strikes. (All of those hours have aired.)
“It was definitely an odd time to premiere—we premiered the day after the writers strike ended, so we at least felt like we had two reasons to celebrate that day,” THE IRRATIONAL showrunner Arika Lisanne Mittman told Give Me My Remote in October. “So that was exciting. We got to shoot seven of our episodes before the strike shut [us] down, and then we’re going to be coming back to finish the rest of the season. So, yeah, it’s definitely not something that happens every season—to be split up by five months in between [filming episodes]. But there [was] a lot of time to think about the show and how excited I was for it to finally premiere and for people to finally get to watch it.”
THE IRRATIONAL also stars Maahra Hill, Travina Springer, Molly Kunz, and Arash DeMaxi.
Meanwhile, sophomore comedy LOPEZ VS. LOPEZ has also had its episode count changed—it’ll produce ten episodes, down from the initially ordered 13. The series stars George Lopez and Mayan Lopez.
Deadline was first to report the news.
