About Last Night…THE SIMPSONS, BOB’S BURGERS, and FAMILY GUY
December 4, 2023 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
THE SIMPSONS: This was an absolutely charming episode. As much as it was about Groundskeeper Willie and his unexpected romance, it was also about Bart and Willie’s tentative bond (and goodness knows they’ve tortured each other in the past) and Marge/Homer’s occasionally incompatible lifestyles. (Okay, and Marge realizing she and Homer are like the unlikely animal friends? SWEET.)
Every once in a while the show makes a change that seemingly will stick beyond the episode itself, and I’m curious what they’ll do here. This feels like this could be a Moe/Maya situation, where they play the card when needed, but it doesn’t become the primary focus of subplots.
BOB’S BURGERS: I’m Team Louise—mustard is gross.
This is not fair, but the thing that hurt this episode for me is that THE SIMPSONS’ vlog-format installment earlier this year was so great, and my brain kept comparing the two. By itself, this was actually really good, but I wish Fox had found a way to space them out more.
FAMILY GUY: Of course Meg could only find success from tears, but that success made her happy, so she couldn’t cry….so she was doomed. I’ll say it: Poor Meg.
