About Last Night…THE FLOOR and QUANTUM LEAP
January 31, 2024 by Marisa Roffman
Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!
THE FLOOR: I was alarming good at fast food logos. (Did not get a few of the chicken things, admittedly.) And I will allow that in the candy round, the Pez really didn’t look like freaking Pez.
Admittedly, as a SIMPSONS nerd, I was disappointed by that round. I get it was likely more fair for non-viewers, but what’s the point in being an expert if knowing your information doesn’t actually get you anywhere? And I’m sad for Steve, whose kindness would have been rewarded in a fairer universe. (Also officially not rooting for Sunnie after being like, “Shows get canceled.” Steve has been the one nice dude here! You won! Don’t be a sore winner!)
QUANTUM LEAP: Oh, poor Ben. Seeing Hannah again under those circumstances would be tough no matter, but the brutal news that her husband was about to die…and he wasn’t able to warn her in time? Absolutely brutal and the guilt is going to be overwhelming.
I understand why Caitlin Bassett worried fans might be upset that Addison got engaged after Ben’s bit of bad news, but…Addison has had to be reactionary the entire time we’ve known her. As Bassett pointed out, Addison hasn’t had the chance to make her own decisions before this, she’s merely been surviving what was thrown at her. This was not done to be cruel, this was not done to hurt Ben; Addison made this move for her.
I also think it’s smart they’re not getting Ben’s hopes up about a possible way home. In many ways, he’s even more untethered than he’s ever been, and giving him false hope would probably be the worst thing in the world. But I’m so curious how this plays out in the background…is this something they get to the bottom of this season? Or do they slow-play it a bit longer to perhaps give him control of leaps in late season 3/early season 4. (If the show gets renewed; its fate is still TBD.)
