On the Thursday, February 1 episode of LAW & ORDER, a young woman’s death opens the door to a bigger investigation—and ties to a possible serial murderer.

But when the cops find their suspect, the lawyers have their own headache to navigate: How to go about prosecuting the man they think committed all of these crimes.

“If there’s no evidence, there’s not much to discuss,” McCoy (Sam Waterston) says in the exclusive clip from “Turn the Page” below.

“No, there’s evidence,” Sam (Odelya Halevi) insists.

“Is there any that actually ties Bruce Elliot to these three other victims besides the manner in which they were killed?” McCoy asks.

As Sam presents her case, McCoy is not impressed: “Smoke. No fire.”

Sam shares they think they found Elliot’s trophies, but Nolan (Hugh Dancy) points out the cops have been trying to prove it, but with no luck so far. “The odds of success here are remote,” Nolan says.

Sam suggests they delay the case so they can try the cases together, but Nolan argues their case for Celeste’s murder is stronger than the others—and the defense won’t be able to attack her character the way they will the other victims.

But what does McCoy vote to do? Watch the clip below…
