LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME: Dann Florek to Reprise Cragen in Multiple Season 4 Episodes

Things may be up in the air, professionally, for LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME’s Elliot Stabler (Christopher Meloni), but he’ll soon have an old friend to lean on.

Dann Florek, who portrayed Captain Cragen (AKA Stabler’s boss) on LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT for 15 seasons, will guest star in two upcoming episodes, Give Me My Remote has confirmed. (The season 4 hours: Episode 7—which is officially untitled—will air March 14; Florek will also appear in episode 8.)

In Florek’s first episode, NBC has teased that “the squad backs up Stabler in pursuing a murder case outside of their jurisdiction as an unlikely ally provides a key piece of evidence. Bell works to find a way to get Stabler back on the job.”

This marks Florek’s third and fourth appearance on OC, after guest starring twice in the show’s sophomore season. Since his 2014 SVU exit, he popped up on that series a handful of times, including briefly in the show’s 500th episode. He also previously starred on LAW & ORDER from 1990-93.

“To me, it’s an honor if they call and then it’s [the question of] what is it?” Florek told Give Me My Remote in 2022 about popping up in the franchise again. “What do you want me to do? Hopefully, it’s something meaty and meaningful. And even like [initial season 2 ORGANIZED CRIME return]: it’s one scene, but it’s a beautiful scene. It’s powerful and it works on so many levels. So it’s not about, ‘I have to go do a whole bunch of stuff.’ But I’m open to hear from them about any of them…I leave it out there until the phone rings.”

This also marks the second former SVU regular to appear on ORGANIZED CRIME season 4, following Tamara Tunie’s episode 2 guest spot.
