FBI International Jubal Forrester

“Remove the Compromise” – Assistant Special Agent in Charge Jubal Valentine (FBI) heads to Budapest to personally help the Fly Team and the CIA take down the cartel that murdered his former girlfriend and colleague. As part of the mission, Forrester poses as an undercover arms expert, on FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, April 9 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). FBI’s Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) went to Budapest hoping to knock out the cartel that he held partially responsible for killing his girlfriend, Rina (Kathleen Munroe)—thanks to its ties to Vargas (David Zayas) on the Tuesday, April 9 episode of FBI: INTERNATIONAL.

Initially, Jubal wanted to go scorched earth—a sentiment that was echoed by the CIA counterpart working with the Fly Team—and the agent was able to settle for making an arrest, with the weapons and drugs procured from the cartel.

Later, Jubal sat down with his buddy, Fly Team leader Forrester (Luke Kleintank) and acknowledged he was looking for revenge versus justice—initially.

“What I liked about that is you’ve kind of seen Jubal justifying his lack of pushback against the CIA, and so I think it hopefully comes as a bit of a surprise [when] it happens in a very brief moment when he sees the bad guy on the ground there,” Sisto tells Give Me My Remote. “What we tried to do is have it be a soft revelation.”

“When you know someone really well—Forrester is my friend [and] is trying to tell me, ‘Look, I know something’s going on. I’m gonna follow you on this, but something’s happening,’” Sisto continues. “I’m like, ‘Nothing’s happening.’ And then to come back into it and be like, ‘So, yeah. I get it now. I get what you were saying. I was wrong and I was in denial.’ Now I can see more clearly what was going on. And it’s acknowledging that. It’s not a big deal for Scott. But it’s a really mature scene.”

Sisto praises the scene as an example of “what’s great about Jubal.”

“He’s got such integrity,” he says. “He’s always trying to understand himself. So that’s what I think is cool about the scene: You see a person coming out of denial and kind of having some clarity on who he is. And then it just goes into a little acknowledgement of his relationship with Rina and how awful his singing voice is. It’s a nice moment!”

But will there be any immediate impact for Jubal on FBI now that he had this experience in Budapest? “More than anything, it goes to how our fans know the person that you’re watching,” Sisto says. “Now you see him do his job, and, hopefully, you enjoy watching him and the team operate and do their thing the way they do their thing. But knowing this stuff, it continues to inform you about who the person is, so it makes it more fun to watch.”
