FBI: INTERNATIONAL, THE ROOKIE, FBI: MOST WANTED

“Radio Silence” – When two NYPD officers are gunned down by a mystery assailant while responding to a robbery, the Fugitive Task Force must act quickly to catch the culprit before more officers are targeted. Meanwhile, Barnes struggles when Charlotte wants to proceed with a divorce and threatens to relocate with the kids, on FBI: MOST WANTED, Tuesday, May 7 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

FBI: The team is rock solid, but I did miss having Maggie there for OA’s big episode. I don’t necessarily think he would have acted any different, but it would have been nice to have the person who knows him best there for him.

I’m still not sure what to make of the Gemma of it all, because certainly it seems like the show is making this relationship more serious than I expected it would be. I’m glad OA has someone, and I’m curious/intrigued where it goes from here.

THE VOICE: I was serious when I said I didn’t know how they’d vote to eliminate people, and, so far, everything just feels sad…I wish we could have kept them all for at least an extra week. (That being said, realizing “Ordinary People” is going to be 20 this year? I felt a billion years old.)

FBI: INTERNATIONAL: Oh, Smitty. It’s rough enough that she and her mother (and her father, even if it was more passively) had issues, but now you add in the mess of a long-term secret affair and, whoops, her father is not her biological father? It’s going to make every single family interaction so loaded for the foreseeable future. But Eva-Jane Willis was fantastic juggling the complex sides of Smitty—badass, kid who wants to be loved, defiant teen, heartbroken young woman.

Also, I love that Raines was there, both for Smitty’s sake, but also to add a bit of lightness to everything. It would have been so easy for Smitty and her mother to entirely spiral into misery in that first conversation, but they couldn’t go as dark as they might have been tempted to because of the non-family member present. It’ll be interesting to see how this impacts their relationship going forward.

THE ROOKIE: Oh, we officially have a mess!!

I feel like I need a Wall of Crazy to keep track of this: We know Monica and Blair are working together—and Mad Dog was at least an accomplice via Blair—but it seems like there might be someone above all of them. And they know they’re working together, but are there other people in the conspiracy we don’t know about? Other people they don’t know about?

Okay, look, Tim and Lucy may be a little broken right now, but sending a dog to help deliver a birthday message because you can’t not send a birthday message? Oh, I swooned a bit. (Thank you, Kojo.) I have little doubt they’ll be endgame, but they’re going to need some time to get back there. (Maybe more time now that Tim just witnessed what he did.)

A few more thoughts:

  • Lopez putting Monica in her place? Incredible.
  • (Also, even more alarmed/terrified by Monica now.)
  • Celina and Lucy working together was fun. I’m guessing we won’t see too much of that, professionally, but I’m really thrilled it seems like the show is going to explore that dynamic more.
  • Just how many alerts did Tim have on his phone for Lucy’s birthday…?
  • I’m okay about Nolan and Bailey’s baby journey ending at this place, at least for now.

FBI: MOST WANTED: Man, poor Barnes cannot catch a break.

The team has changed a lot—and, obviously, I’m guessing we all knew it wouldn’t end the same way—but everyone gathering around her when she was shot reminded me of Jess’ death. (I wonder if Hana had any flashbacks/trauma from living through that experience already.)

I do wonder what, if anything, this will mean for Barnes’ marriage…and the possibility her kids might get moved away. Hopefully the injury at least puts the potential divorce on pause.
