[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Tuesday, May 21 season finale of FBI.]

The FBI team finally closed the Hobbs (Roshawn Franklin) case on the season 6 finale.

After finally getting Hakim, who killed Hobbs, and his associate, Bashir, in their sights at a country club—which was hosting a function that included delegates of the Somali government—the team descended…only for Hakim and Bashir to take off.

Scola (John Boyd) was forced to kill Bashir, who was attacking the agents, but Hakim, initially, appeared to surrender. But then Tiffany (Katherine Renee Kane)—who was deeply impacted by Hobbs death—shot Hakim, much to the confusion of her colleagues.

Initially, the other agents were confused and skeptical about what went down, but Tiffany insisted Hakim had a gun…which OA (Zeeko Zaki) was able to confirm.

Here, Kane talks with Give Me My Remote about closing the Hobbs case and what it means for Tiffany moving forward…

The team finally got justice for Hobbs. What are your hopes about what this means for Tiffany going forward?
I hope that this growth, that’s come by way of a very challenging saga in her time at 26 Fed, continues to roll over into her becoming a lot more thoughtful and self-possessive in how she works. A lot more attune to the ramifications of decisions and how it is resonating off of her partners. And one of the biggest things I hope for her is that she finds healing, and a lot more ease in how she works and in her life, and how she relates to people. I really want to see her in that era, in her next iterations.

She had a complex relationship with Hobbs’ wife, but she was able to share that the case was closed. What did it mean to Tiffany to be able to get that moment?
I have to say that I was hoping that people would give Tiffany some grace with her last interaction with that woman [pre-finale], because she was so blinded by her emotion that she couldn’t necessarily see, again, how she was resonating off of other people. How she’s being received.

I think that to come back to her with this bit of information is to sort of try and reset the relationship to a respectful place where they can both let go of someone that meant something to them and to an event that took that person away from them. And to not ask anything more of her; to really just give that to her as an apology, as a token of resolution, and to let it be and to move on as she suggested that she should.

There was a beat after Tiffany takes the shot where her colleagues doubt her—for a second—and whether the force was justified. What was going through her mind when they were skeptical about that?
I think what’s going through her mind is a lot of turmoil, a lot of uncertainty, about where she stands with her colleagues. About where the world stands: Is she someone that can be trusted, is she someone that can be depended upon? Or do they believe that? I think she knows that she can be, but it creates a lot of tension when you think that people aren’t understanding you. She feels really misunderstood. And that’s really hard. But that release of tension comes pretty quickly [when they find the gun], which I’m grateful for.

Absolutely. There was also a lovely moment when Jubal (Jeremy Sisto) really checked in on Tiffany. What was it like filming that scene?
It was very fulfilling for me to be able to shoot that scene. I love working with Jeremy. It was a scene that really required me to drop in to what was going on in a moment, what he was giving me—and to really be open-hearted and honest with Jeremy and as Tiffany to be open-hearted and honest with Jubal about what she really needed. I loved shooting that scene.

One of the things we learned a few episodes ago was that Tiffany is going to therapy in the aftermath of this Hobbs situation. What are your hopes about what we may see of that element of her life going forward?
I hope that it is a continuation of her growth and maturity, that it’s not just about this traumatic event. But I hope that she continues. I mean, as we saw before all of this happened, she had a particular relationship with therapy when it came to her brother and him needing to get therapy. And Scola was trying to suggest that maybe he needs therapy and she was very resistant to it. I think there was like a sort of cultural thing that she’s carrying that’s making her resistant to ask for help. But I think community and asking for help and being open-hearted is going to be something that’s going to really change the game for her—not just as an agent, but also just as a person and how she’s able to find that ease in life.
