AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: Watch Howie Mandel’s Second Golden Buzzer Act

14-year-old singer Reid Wilson won over the judges—especially Howie Mandel—on the Tuesday, July 9 episode of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT.

After performing a soulful version of “You Don’t Own Me,” Simon Cowell told Sofia Vergara the young man was “a gutsy little kid.”

“We weren’t expecting that,” Cowell told Wilson.

“I think you’re absolutely incredible,” Heidi Klum added. “I love how you also took your mic off and gave it a little bit of stage presence.”

Vergara acknowledged Wilson was nervous at the beginning—which made her nervous he wouldn’t be able to get it together for his performance. “But you did and you did amazingly,” she praised. “It sounded spectacular for me.”

“I shut my eyes for a moment while you were singing just to hear your voice,” Cowell added. “And then I opened them again and there’s this sweet young kid.” Cowell asked Wilson who inspired him, musically, and he said Aretha Franklin, much to Cowell’s delight.

“I was bowled over because I was surprised,” Mandel admitted. “I would imagine, I put myself in your position, you were very nervous. And you did come off incredibly nervous. That was a surprise. And you know what? That stage is where dreams come true.”

“Yes,” Wilson said.

“Do you believe in dreams?” Mandel asked.

“I do, yes,” Wilson answered.

“Well, one of them is about to come true,” Mandel said, before he pushed his Golden Buzzer.
