Jensen Ackles is returning to TRACKER in season 2, it was revealed during the show’s Television Critics Association panel.

“It’s a great story,” Justin Hartley, who plays Colter, enthused to reporters.

Ackles guest starred in the season 1 penultimate episode, “Off the Books,” as Russell, Colter’s estranged brother.

“I worked with Jensen previously…when we texted him, he’s like, ‘Tell me where, tell me when,’ and he shows up—he’s just that kind of guy,” showrunner Elwood Reid shared. (The duo previously worked together on BIG SKY.) “I’m real excited about this particular storyline they’re [having] this season. We’ll keep it underwraps, but it’s going to be really fun.”

One thing Reid did confirm? Ackles will be back for more than one episode. (Ackles will also be busy with his new Amazon series.)

And after a midseason launch for season 1, the panelists also confirmed TRACKER’s sophomore season will consist of 22 episodes.

TRACKER, Season Premiere, Sunday, October 27, 8:30/7:30c, CBS
