WHO WANTS TO BE A MILLIONAIRE has crowned another grand prize winner!
On the Wednesday, August 14 episode, Ike Barinholtz and his father, Alan Barinholtz, successfully answered the million-dollar question. (The duo played for the ASL Program at Los Encinos School.)
For much of their gameplay, the path was smooth: They made it through the $250,000 without using a lifeline. For the $500,000 question, they utilized two lifelines (50-50 and phone a friend). When the Barinholtz men made it to the million-dollar question—with Ask the Host and Ask the Audience lifelines still in play—host Jimmy Kimmel joked everyone was now in it together.

Indeed, they did utilize both lifelines to figure out what “zax” meant, with the audience initially guessing it meant antelope…but Kimmel had an ace up his sleeve. The host revealed he had won Scrabble tournaments and utilized this word before; he was pretty sure it was a tool used for cutting part of the roof. The Barinholtz men trusted Kimmel—and their gut—and locked it in. Adding to the drama? Because they utilized Ask the Host, the trio had to wait for the computer to reveal the answer. But, ultimately, the men won a million dollars for Los Encinos School.
Making this even more impressive? Ike Barinholtz won the entire season of CELEBRITY JEOPARDY in 2023. (He also made it to the semifinals of JEOPARDY’s 2024 Tournament of Champions.)
The Barinholtz men are also the first duo to win MILLIONAIRE, and only the second winner (after David Chang won in 2020).
