AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: Simon Cowell and Howie Mandel Battle for a Golden Buzzer Act

A performance from Airfootworks caused a bit of mayhem on the Tuesday, August 20 episode of AMERICA’S GOT TALENT.
With each judge set to get one Golden Buzzer for the live shows—and each constricted to use it during a certain day—Simon Cowell acknowledged he was about to cause trouble after the dance group finished their performance.
“Terry, I am just about to get myself fired,” Cowell said, lunging for the Golden Buzzer. (Cowell notoriously gave a second Golden Buzzer to Sky Elements, which caused every judge to get two Buzzer pushes during the auditions this season.)
Howie Mandel, who had the Golden Buzzer this week, managed to just barely sneak in his buzzer push before Cowell reached the button…and both men wanted to take credit for it. (A video replay showed Mandel did just barely beat Cowell to the buzzer.)
Mandel had praise for Airfootworks when he got on stage to congratulate them: “You guys are athletes, you guys are dancers…you guys are magicians.”
