BIG BROTHER, PRESS YOUR LUCK, and HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET

BIG BROTHER Thursday August 22 on the CBS Television Network and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)* Pictured: Kimo Apaka and Chelsie Baham. Let’s talk about Thursday night’s TV!

BIG BROTHER: How is Chelsie not believing Quinn that T’Kor and Kimo may have squealed to Tucker given THEY FLIPPED THE WHOLE DAMN HOUSE?! Like, it absolutely makes sense she’d be wary about Quinn in general given he was taken off the block and she was put on, but it’s not like he blamed…Brooklyn or Cam.

(That being said: I cannot believe Quinn still thinks the Visionaries is a thing.)

PRESS YOUR LUCK: I do not get why you don’t pass your spin when there’s a huge gap between you and the first place! There was virtually no way to win, the only game to really play there is hope your competitor Whammies out

But, wow, an absolutely incredible final game, though. The extra spins made me nervous, but it ended up netting Rob almost $200,000. Love when people can walk away with life-changing money.

HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET (“A Dog and Pony Show”): NOT A DEAD DOG. I don’t do well with dead animals, so I actively refused to look at the screen for multiple scenes. (Though Frank pondering the kind of name Jake is for a dog made me miss BROOKLYN NINE-NINE and the fantastic Andre Braugher all over again.) It was an emotional enough case, albeit one that was fairly simple for them to solve; obviously, there was an extra layer of seriousness over this since Jake was a police dog. But the emotional kicker for the characters was when Tim had a beat where he got emotional after they watched Jake’s partner scatter the dog’s ashes—Tim was thinking about the still-unsolved Adena case. It’s a beautiful moment of authentic and earned grief, especially given how much time and effort Tim has put into getting justice for the young girl with no real results.

The Crosetti and Chris storyline was very difficult to watch, in a good way. I’m so glad he’s unflinchingly refusing to abandon his friend, but, man, Chris really can’t take another blow. Even the news he’s having a kid is marred by the grief of not being able to see them. As Crosetti said, a lot of parents are blind—that has nothing to do with whether Chris can or will be an incredible father. But it’s another loss of the way he expected things to be on top of everything else. (Also, my God, Eva, don’t quit your job.)

Okay, I’m wary about telling parents their kids are acting out, but Danny seems to be a budding…uh, future problem for the cops.

(And is this Kay and Felton thing foreshadowing or…?)
