Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!

BIG BROTHER: Someone needs to pull a stunt outside the house and let Rubina know that Tucker just made her cry. And congrats America on giving this power to a POS who doesn’t care about other people’s feelings? I get he wanted to hold her hand in public, but he also made her a bigger target and quasi-blew up her game because he wasn’t man enough to tell her himself he wanted to do it. A real stellar guy, clearly.

Also, really, in a week with this trick—and with T’Kor having to tip her hand, potentially, about who she wants to protect—we had to watch Kimo’s dumb song and Angela freaking out about food (again)?

(Also, if T’Kor actually cares about keeping Chelsie safe, she should want to protect Cam; he’s the only one who seems to have his back.)

HOMICIDE: LIFE ON THE STREET:

“And the Rockets’ Dead Glare”: I wish there was a camera on my face when I realized they were on a FIELD TRIP RELATED TO THE LINCOLN ASSASSINATION. Oh my God, I laughed.

I wouldn’t have minded Kay seemingly being attracted to Danvers if it was just a thing, but it being revealed in the same episode she made a big mistake on the witness stand is a bummer. I hope this changes as the series/season progresses; so many of her storylines of any substance feel…lighter.

(Okay, bringing a portable TV and VHS player to use while they wait to testify is brilliant, though. Well done to Felton, who is living his best life.)

It’s interesting that Frank was offered a promotion and there was mess about how to handle it—TPTB telling him not to tell Giardello, who already knew what was going on. I don’t know if Frank ever gets promoted—and I don’t want to know—but his assessment was right: He likes investigating, he likes doing his job. He’s where he should be right now.

I do love all of these bar scenes, though. I don’t know if this will last, but for now, it’s great. (And LOL to Munch being so pro-drug.)

“Smoke Gets in Your Eyes”: Kay and Tim quitting smoking and it slowly driving them mad—and their partners having to put up with it (to varying degrees of amusement and horror)—was funny.

Less funny: Asking someone if they’re a Jew and then offering to get coffee. That moment was absolutely chilling, and Richard Belzer was so good at portraying Munch’s discomfort in the moment.

Giardello fighting to protect his workers from asbestos…God, it’s terrible he had to, but he also had his team’s back and knew how to get things done for them. Good for him.

(Also: Not advocating for police coercion, but that Xerox machine trick was brilliant. Don’t think it would work in 2024, but fascinating to see it work in 1993.)
