CLAIM TO FAME crowned a season 3 champ on the two-hour Wednesday, August 28 finale.

With Adam, Hud, Mackenzie, and Shane left in the competition, Mackenzie won the challenge. The bad news? No one was safe. The good news? It meant Mackenzie got Shane’s clue and served as the tiebreaker in case the votes for who the group wanted to be the guesser were tied.

Though Shane, Mackenzie, and Hud had a plan to make Adam the guesser—Mackenzie and Hud with the presumption he didn’t actually have a guess, while Shane had shared Mackenzie’s clue with Adam and was hoping Adam could take her out—Mackenzie had second thoughts. After Hud helped her figure out Shane was related to Marlon Brando, she opted to take a shot: She skewed it so the vote was split 2-2 for her and Adam to be the guesser, and she broke the tie and nominated herself.

And Mackenzie was correct: She guessed Shane’s connection to Brando, and Shane was eliminated from the game.

Then, when it was down to three contestants, Mackenzie got another vital clue: Hud mentioned “Melon” as part of his name.

But there was additional help on the way: All of the previously eliminated season 3 contestants were back for the final competition and could lend a hand—or sabotage—the final three. The winner of the competition would choose who would be the guesser and their target in the first round of the finale; if they didn’t select themselves, whoever won the first guess-off would have the power to select if they were the guesser or the target for the final round.

Things took a turn, however, when Miguel refused to help Adam relay clues…so Adam took it upon himself to run the course himself, and hit his head, needing medical attention. After a delay, the team allowed Adam to resume the competition…and with Mackenzie and Hud targeting each other to try and get clues, Adam actually won. (He did, however, need to go off-site for medical treatment and got his head stapled.)

Mackenzie got some help to confirm that Hud was related to John Cougar Mellencamp, but Adam’s ID still remained a mystery to the contestants. It took until Adam started dropping hints about his person (including “When a Man Loves a Woman”) that Bianca realized he was related to Michael Bolton—and shared that information with Mackenzie and Hud.

But Adam still had control of the situation. He opted to take things into his own hands, picked himself as the guesser, and guessed that Mackenzie was related to Trace Adkins; he was correct.

Then, he opted to guess Hud’s celebrity ID, too: He chose Mellencamp and was correct, too. With those guesses, Adam cemented himself as the winner of CLAIM TO FAME season 3. (And, yes, he was related to Bolton.)
