“I remember being honored to be a part of this television legacy. The fact that I was able to get hired made me feel like such a legit actor...the cast is comprised of actors who are doing New York theater, they’ve been around for 100 years, journeymen actors. That is one of the ways…I’ve been acting since I was 11 years old; I remember when I was 15, 16 and started really working, people saying to me, ‘Well, at some point, you’ve got to do a LAW & ORDER.’ And [I thought,] ‘Well, once I’ve done a LAW & ORDER episode, that means I’m a real actor.'
So getting to be there, to be with Chris and I’m crying and people were working with me....And Tamara Tunie, who later I got to direct in a movie! It was a perfect thing I got to do in my early 20s to help me feel like I had arrived in a lot of ways to the acting profession. It was really legitimizing. So many times as an actor, there’s this imposter syndrome. So it was really cool to feel like a real actor.” (Photo credit: Screengrab/NBC)
