CHICAGO MED’s Ripley (Luke Mitchell) was accused by Pawel (Kristof Konrad) of attacking him in the season 9 finale, and after a long summer hiatus, the season 10 premiere, “Sink or Swim,” delivered some answers.

After being estranged from Hannah (Jessy Schram) due to his refusal to answer questions or defend himself against the charges, the almost-couple found themselves alone in a hospital elevator. Ripley stopped the elevator and finally opened up to Hannah.

“Sully called me that day to tell me he and his boys had followed Pawel to a bar in Lincoln park,” he said. “He told me they were about to give him a proper beat down on my behalf. He was offering me a chance to get my licks in. I tried to talk him out of it, but no one talks Sully out of anything when his mind is made up. So I rushed over there to try and stop it, but I was too late. I found Pawel lying in the alley, unconscious, just as Sully as his boys were walking away. He assured me Pawel couldn’t ID any of them, because they had all worn face masks.”

Hannah was skeptical about why he was sharing this, but he made it clear he realized you don’t always get to apologize—he was trying to right that wrong.

“I shut you out, and I let that jeopardize what we had,” he said. “And what we had was really good. And for that, I’m sorry.”

What do you think of Ripley’s confession?
