About Last Night…MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN

Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN: I’m still very confused by this show. On one hand, I find Karl and Cassandra very charming; I would watch an hour just of them navigating this new relationship. (Which seems to be moving very fast? We went from them just meeting last episode to them going public—at a high school reunion!—by episode 2.) They are the highest of the highs of the show so far.

I do remain flummoxed by the actual cases, though. It’s not that they’re complex or complicated, but…it’s a small town. I know other shows have done this, but it just is harder to buy in 2024. (Like, if there are suddenly 13 deaths in this small town in six months, it’s going to become a Thing on TikTok, at least.) It’s odd, I have to suspend disbelief so frequently on so many shows (including procedurals!), but this keeps gnawing at me while I watch. I hope either they somehow address it or I buy into the premise in the upcoming weeks.
