THE VOICE, MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN, and THE IRRATIONAL

MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN: Guest star Stana Katic in the “A Chill Rain” episode of MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN airing Tuesday, October. 8 (8:00-9:00PM ET/PT) on FOX. ©2024 Fox Media LLC. CR: Kailey Schwerman/ FOX.

Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: Okay, this whole Bub-lie thing is insane and hilarious. What classic movie is he going to steal from next?! (And Reba’s “you lie” button. Oh my God.)

Snoop being the first to turn for a standard singer was a shock…I’m so curious if Michael Bublé does steal the man or not, because he does seem like the actual best coach for him, but…I do see what he means when he doesn’t want someone who can only do one thing.

It is fascinating how much fun they’re having and how competitive they are. Snoop’s “Watch me, not the moves I make” was great, but it also was interesting he didn’t want to play the game with producers and reveal his strategy. He’s correct! People can go back and watch. But it also implies he might want to do it long-term, which is kind of nice to hear?

Reba with the teeny tiny child?! Oh, that will be fun.

MURDER IN A SMALL TOWN: I really thought we might have a week with no murder! (Hey, if they can make this title a singular murder and play with that deception, they can have weeks with no murders, in theory.)

That being said, this is going to drop from my night-of list. It’s a bummer! I still think the relationship between Karl and Cassandra is sweet, but the show itself is tonally all over the place. The interrogation scene between Karl and Stana Katic’s villain of the week was great, but much of the episode…was really, really rough. This could have been episode 3 or it could have been episode 10; it doesn’t feel like there’s much of a thread (or consistency) holding things together week-to-week. Hopefully it improves, though.

THE IRRATIONAL: Poor Rose. Poor Alec. And my goodness to Alec deciding to get himself kidnapped to try and save Rose. I mean, it worked out, thankfully, but maybe 95% less putting ourselves in danger moving forward, please and thanks?! (I’m also worried about how this experience and PTSD will impact both Rose and Alec as individuals AND as a couple. Rose did not seem like she was in a good place by the end.)

That being said, I’m so happy to have this show back. I missed them all so much.
