THE IRRATIONAL team tries to identify—and stop—a serial killer on the Tuesday, October 15 episode, “A Kick in the Teeth.”

“We were just trying to figure out what was going on with the case and why a serial killer was on the loose,” Maahra Hill, who plays Marisa, teases to Give Me My Remote. “The idea that you get in the mindset of a serial killer—who does this kind of thing? I think it was fascinating for us all to just be a part of.”

“But the tone of that episode had this suspenseful [vibe],” she continues. “I think it was a fascinating [episode] for us to be a part of. And then we colored it in a way [with where the investigation takes the characters]…it made it really intriguing. But outside of that, just the natural psychosis behind who a serial killer might be, whether it ends up being that way or not, ends up being really interesting.”

Though the series has just returned to NBC for its sophomore season, the actors have been hard at work for months, nearly completing their full-season order. Looking ahead, Hill says it’s “a toss-up” between episode 4 (airing on October 29) and 9 as her favorites of the year.

“[Episode] 4 is this intriguing…it’s glamorous, it’s the Italian Embassy, there’s some murder that happens there at this big event that’s there, as well,” she teases. “Everyone’s dressed to the nines. And so it’s just a departure from how you see them in their day-to-day life. There’s tuxes, there’s gowns, there’s intrigue. It’s a foreign embassy and exciting for that reason because it’s a bit of a departure.”

“The other is [episode] 9 because a part of Marisa’s past is awakened and [we see] her response and reaction to that,” Hill continues. “It’s surprising for her. I think it will be surprising for the audience, completely. And it takes her on a journey that is unexpected and heartfelt. If I had to pick one, it would probably be 9 and subsequent episodes. But I just love the standout that 4 is.”
