THE VOICE, POPPA'S HOUSE, and NCIS: ORIGINS

“Bend, Don’t Break” – A murder near Camp Pendleton leads Gibbs and the team to a suburban mall in San Diego, where Gibbs takes matters into his own hands. Jackson Gibbs pays Franks an unexpected visit, on NCIS: ORIGINS, Monday, Oct. 21 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)*. Let’s talk about Monday night’s TV!

THE VOICE: The “Redneck Woman” battle was fun, but nothing topped Snoop’s reaction to it. Oh my GOD, his pure joy was incredible.

Jan Dan revealing his wife was 2.5 cm dilated…did he tell production?! Did they find a way to move him up in the order?! I cannot imagine the nerves of trying to perform through that life-changing opportunity while your life was 100 percent changing elsewhere.

Sloane Simon getting the three steals was incredible, though; very curious to see what Michael does with her. I also think Gwen might be good for Mor Ilderton.

It is fascinating how a lot of the coaches aren’t playing the “I would pick [insert their choice here]” for the other teams this year.  I do think there can be genuine guidance, but I also would not have to hurt someone’s feelings needlessly.

POPPA’S HOUSE: Well…it was a very pilot-y pilot. A number of the jokes felt very dated and casually sexist, but I’ll try episode 2 to see if they move past that.

NCIS: ORIGINS: This is an episode that I’m very curious what superfans think. We got rules origins and Franks and Gibbs’ dad together. Worth it? Too much?

The case itself was solid. (And the episode was literally lit better, which was a relief.) Hiding real guns inside of fake guns is crazy. I also loved Randy trying to support Gibbs, while also trying to abide by the rules. The LOVE ACTUALLY-type signs to tell Gibbs to stop his impromptu hostage-taking was a brilliant move. (Yes, I know this show takes place in a pre-LOVE ACTUALLY world. Speaking of which, laughed out loud at them having pagers.)
