About Last Night…THE FLOOR, CHICAGO FIRE, CHICAGO P.D., and More

Let’s talk about Wednesday night’s TV!
CHICAGO MED: Oh, my heart broke (and grew like ten sizes) for Maggie and the young mom-to-be. I love that the show utilized Maggie’s history of giving up a child for adoption to add a little bit more depth to the story. (Also, I hope we do get to see a bit more of Maggie and Hannah doing outreach outside of the hospital like this.)
This Lenox and Archer mess had to explode and it seems like it’s only going to get worse. Two bosses are rarely a good thing!
THE FLOOR: A number of shocks in this episode! I’m surprised the Time Boost didn’t help with the Fitness category since both seemed well-versed in the topic. And the STAR WARS one was so fascinating, because…yeah, you needed to be a superfan to know some of those things in a split second. (I mean, clearly zero judgment.)
Oh, man, the pop star round broke my heart, though. I hoped the woman getting told names as she walked up might actually help her, but passing every single person?! My goodness. I don’t blame her for being embarrassed, but also ouch.
The addition of sound clues was really fascinating, though. I’ll be interested to see how it’s utilized going forward.
CHICAGO FIRE: I cannot overstate how much I don’t love this Carver stuff. This isn’t about a ship—I know it won’t last, but I’m enjoying Violet and her new guy right now—but rather Carver himself; right now it feels like he’s spiraling in a way that doesn’t make a lot of sense and it isn’t that compelling to actually watch. He’s an active risk to the entire team.
An interesting development, for me, was that I (unquestionably) miss Boden, but the addition of Pascal—and how layered they’ve written him so far—makes a storyline like the mess with Severide and the troopers more interesting than it might have been a couple of years ago. I would still be intrigued, but we knew that Boden would do virtually anything for his team; Pascal’s a wild card, and if he had been selfish and tried to cover only himself, I would have bought that. I genuinely didn’t know whether he’d protect himself or the team until he finally acknowledged what was going on to Severide. I’m glad Severide figured out what was going on, and I’m intrigued to see how the two handle this mess going forward.
THE SUMMIT: How. Is. Dennis. Still. Here?! I mean, look, I get it: Jennye was a threat in the sense her injury could have really slowed them down/derailed their process. But…Dennis…it’s not good, man. Maybe next week? Sigh.
CHICAGO P.D.: I wasn’t surprised that Burgess was made a detective, but I will admit it never crossed my mind she might not just automatically be allowed to stay. So the fact she was actually set to leave until Reid did…whatever he did…was a twist I didn’t see coming, and is also kind of deliciously twisted.
I’m excited and happy for Kim, but I’m also really intrigued to see what this will mean for the team, as a whole, long-term. Will she have to curb some of her natural tendencies as an officer/instinct to just chase a lead versus securing a crime scene? Will anything change with the guys she has worked alongside for so long? Will she be leaning on Voight more? And, again, WTF does Reid want from her?!?
Also: Gloria?! Uh oh, Torres…
