THE SIMPSONS will air a spiritual sequel to the season 7 classic episode, “22 Short Films About Springfield,” with the Sunday, November 10 episode, “Women in Shorts.”

“It’s another little sketch episode with funny, interconnected sketches,” THE SIMPSONS executive producer Matt Selman tells Give Me My Remote. “And it’s all about the female characters on the show who might not get as much attention. So there’s [stories about] Lunchlady Dora and Mrs. Skinner and Luann Van Houten and Bernice Hibbert and Nelson’s mom. And they’re all good characters, but they’re more side characters than main characters. So we’re trying to give them [the spotlight].”

Also getting a story? Luigi’s mother, Mama. In “Women in Shorts,” “she has a sitcom—sort of like THE NANNY—about her becoming a lawyer,” Selman previews. “There’s a theme song and it’s very silly. [The episode is] written by Christine Nangle and produced by Brian Kelley; I had almost nothing to do with it, and it’s just very original and parodies lots of genres. There’s several songs in it. And it’s just a terrific episode.”

THE SIMPSONS, Sundays, 8/7c, Fox
