“The Unwinnable War” – The deputy inspector general calls on Tate, who is fluent in Spanish, to take on her first undercover field mission, joining Wes and the team in Spain as they investigate a seemingly dirty U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration special agent working out of Madrid, on FBI: INTERNATIONAL, Tuesday, Nov. 12 (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on-demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on-demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs). Tate (Christina Wolfe) takes on a big assignment on the Tuesday, November 12 episode of FBI: INTERNATIONAL: She agrees to leave headquarters and go undercover in “The Unwinnable War.”

“It is a very exciting episode; Wade McIntyre wrote just an episode that I feel like it could be a standalone feature film,” Wolfe tells Give Me My Remote with a laugh. “Tate is offered her first undercover mission with the Fly Team, and it’s in Spain. She basically has to gain the trust of DEA Agent Lopez, who we think is corrupt; it’s essentially a honey trap operation, and she needs to prove his corruption and possible involvement in his fellow DEA Agent Christina Bryant’s murder.”

Though Tate has been working with the team for a bit, she’s still getting to know Fly Team’s new boss, Wes (Jesse Lee Soffer)…and figuring out where she stands with him. “She really respects Wes, and I think she likes the way that he works—and she really wants to prove herself to him,” Wolfe says. “That is one of the underlying themes for her because she really wants to earn his trust and prove to him that she is capable. That’s one of her drivers behind accepting this mission.”

As Tate goes undercover, things aren’t exactly easy for the agent. “She’s never had any undercover training,” Wolfe points out. “She’s doing everything she can to remain calm and think on her feet and use her skills, but it is quite an intimidating and new situation for her. But I think that she has such a strong desire to prove herself, that that’s kind of what makes this possible, even though she doesn’t have training.”

The actress relished getting to step out of her own comfort zone to film “The Unwinnable War,” too.

“It was so much fun,” she gushes. “There is a real parallel, in a sense, between me and Tate, because this is a new situation for both of us. But it just adds something new, because you’re not in your comfort zone. She doesn’t have screens, and she doesn’t have her team of analysts; she often doesn’t get to meet the people that she’s talking about in the cases because she sees them on a screen. So it’s just all new and direct and she has to think on her feet.”

The hour also gives a little more insight into Tate’s home life, as the agent tries to figure out what she wants from her career. “You’ll see more of her relationship with her daughter and the internal conflict that she feels about having this dangerous job,” Wolfe previews. “And also being there for her daughter and being safe…so that her daughter doesn’t have to worry about her mother. And I think that’s a really difficult line to tread, and she’s kind of navigating that in this episode.”
