THE EQUALIZER: CBS Potentially Expanding the Franchise with New Spinoff

THE EQUALIZER television show may be the next series to turn into a franchise, sources confirm to Give Me My Remote.

Two characters will be introduced in the upcoming 16th episode of the CBS drama who could potentially lead their own series. According to Deadline, who was first to break the news, the characters are “a skilled younger female martial artist, weapons expert and criminologist with a secret origin story who turns to McCall (Queen Latifah) for help, and an older male former top CIA operative.”

THE EQUALIZER started as an ’80s television series, before becoming a film franchise; the Queen Latifah-led series—the first with a female lead—bowed in 2021.

CBS is known for its franchises, with NCIS, THE FBIS, FIRE COUNTRY (thanks to an upcoming spinoff already ordered to series), and THE BIG BANG THEORY universe among its recent offerings.

Season 5 of THE EQUALIZER also stars Tory Kittles, Adam Goldberg, Liza Lapira, Laya DeLeon Hayes, and Lorraine Toussaint.
