About Last Night…FBI, FBI: INTERNATIONAL, FBI: MOST WANTED, and More

Let’s talk about Tuesday night’s TV!
FBI: Okay, the threat by bowling ball was INSANE and kind of terrifying?! (Also scary/brilliant.)
I know I joked a few weeks ago about Jubal paralleling Elliot Stabler’s SVU arc, but, man, we took it to another level with this episode when Jubal got his kid out of trouble by utilizing his job. (Like Elliot did with Kathleen.) It’s crazy Jubal thought he could get away with it when so many people were around, though.
But, man, it hurt to see Isobel have to deal with the mess. Jubal’s lucky she did vouch for him and gave him the option to find a way to quasi-make this right. That being said, I do hope Isobel gets something to do soon; so far she’s largely had to scold her entire team this season.
ST. DENIS MEDICAL: When in doubt, believe that the hexes/curses/superstition is going to get you, because when you don’t…everything goes wrong. EVERYTHING, Dr. Ron.
Okay, but how was the Chaplain faking things?!? I can’t believe Matt was the one to figure it out, too.
(Poor Val with that ginormous cross.)
FBI: INTERNATIONAL: Haha, I was wondering which teammate Wes spotted on the dating site, and I wondered if they’d show us; of course it was Vo. The show feels like it’s in an interesting position right now, because, uh, most of the team has good/interesting romantic chemistry with each other, so I’m curious who they pair up, if/when they do. (Also, a second laugh-out-loud moment at the warning to “tone down all the golf talk” from Vo about Wes’ profile. And then the golf room at the end! If you know, you know.)
The case was interesting, though. (Also, it’s rare when you see them find a kidnapping victim and be terrified because they have all of their fingers intact.) Smart of the kidnappers to try and evade detection by sending a voice memo as proof of life; not sure how well that would work for people who were skeptical—especially in an era when voices can be duper with AI and other technology—but, hey, I guess at least they weren’t totally dumb.
THE VOICE: Well, I don’t love this format. It was hard enough in the past when we’d lose half the team, but losing 60 percent and the at-home audience having no say was a bummer. I think the right two contestants probably moved forward, but I was also shocked that Jose Luis didn’t make it through; if there had been any kind of steal element, I would guess he would still be with the show.
FBI: MOST WANTED: Mess, mess, mess with the case.
And, look, I absolutely get that there is a limited amount of time to deal with personal in a show like this—and I’m so grateful for what we get—but I would have loved to see Ray reach out to his own father about the stuff with Caleb and his biological father. It made sense to have Ray and Cora struggling with their own complicated feelings about it; if we could only have one element of the story I get it. But Ray’s still new to this parenting thing, and step-parenting adds a whole other layer of complication, and it would have been interesting to have him try to talk out his conflicted feelings about Caleb’s rekindled relationship with his father. Hopefully in the future!
