LAW & ORDER: ORGANIZED CRIME has changed showrunners—again.

John Shiban has exited midway through the drama’s fifth season, sources have confirmed to Give Me My Remote. The series underwent a brief production hiatus, but has resumed filming. No new showrunner has been named, but FBI: INTERNATIONAL showrunner Matt Olmstead—who co-created the series—will serve as an executive producer for the last few scripts of season 5.

ORGANIZED CRIME has had a bumpy showrunner ride since the LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT spinoff was ordered straight to series in 2020. Olmstead was initially set to run the show, but he departed a few months into development. Ilene Chaiken was brought on to redevelop and run the series, and left in February 2022, with OC writer Barry O’Brien stepping in temporarily to showrun the end of season 2. (O’Brien stayed with OC in season 3 as a writer/executive producer.)

Bryan Goluboff joined as the season 3 showrunner, and exited after a few episodes; Sean Jablonski was tapped to replace him. Jablonski left OC in March 2023, with SVU showrunner David Graziano stepping in to finish out OC’s third season.

Shiban was brought on to run season 4, and his continued presence with the show was one of the only things officially confirmed by Peacock when the series’ new streaming home was announced in May.
