CHICAGO MED: Steven Weber Previews Possible Insight Into Archer’s Personal Life

CHICAGO MED’s Dean Archer (Steven Weber) might have his hands very, very, very full when the show returns in 2025, but there might be a bit of light (elsewhere) on the horizon for the doctor.
“I have been told that there will be a deeper dive into his personal life,” Weber tells Give Me My Remote in the video below. “We’ll see how that manifests…I can’t speak to any possibilities of a romance.”
“That’s what people immediately expect when they’re watching a TV show,” he continues. “I think this year, especially, CHICAGO MED is trying to avoid obvious assumptions and expectations. Even ones that make the audience comfortable, or even ones that they would like to see. I think they’re making a real effort—and succeeding—in digging deeper. And challenging their incredibly loyal and smart audience to raise the bar; to come to the raised bar, a bit.”
If the show does ever opt to dig more into Archer’s romantic life, Weber acknowledges his character is “a mess. He doesn’t know what to do.”
“And that would be interesting to see,” Weber allows. “But if it doesn’t blossom then I’m not gonna push it.”
