“Unalive and Well” – When a young man is found dead in his car, Elsbeth visits the holistic wellness center he’d just left, and begins to suspect its charismatic founder (Eric McCormack), on the CBS original series ELSBETH, Thursday, Jan. 30 (10:00-11:00 PM, ET/PT) on the CBS Television Network, and streaming on Paramount+ (live and on demand for Paramount+ with SHOWTIME subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential subscribers the day after the episode airs)* Pictured (L-R): Eric McCormack as Tom Murphey and Carrie Preston as Elsbeth Tascioni Photo: Michael Parmelee/CBS ©2024 CBS Broadcasting, Inc. When ELSBETH returns on Thursday, January 30, Elsbeth (Carrie Preston) investigates the death of a young man who died after spending time at a holistic wellness center.

In an exclusive clip from “Unalive and Well,” Elsbeth tries to get some information about the victim from another participant at the center, but butts heads with the founder, Tom (Eric McCormack).

“Meet Makoto, named for the Shinto concept of honesty, truthfulness, and conscientiousness,” Tom tells Elsbeth, showing off a painted ball, in the video below.

“I thought those were universal concepts,” Elsbeth quips.

Tom, however, isn’t engaging, continuing his spiel to the group. “In Truth Ball, you only speak when Makoto is passed on to you,” he says. “The rule is simple: When you hold him, you tell a truth that you’ve observed about yourself or another person here at the center.”

Tom tosses Makoto to Elsbeth—who naturally uses her speaking time to question him about the young man. How does Tom react? Watch the scene below…

ELSBETH, Thursdays, 10/9c, CBS
