This story contains references to domestic violence.

FBI: MOST WANTED’s Nina (Shantel VanSanten) was alarmed when her sister, Tink (Hannah Adrian), told her that Tink’s husband, Brett, had been lying about looking for a job for months—leaving Tink scrambling to work as much as possible, while also taking care of her kids—but things took a much darker by the end of the Tuesday, January 28 episode, “Moving On.”

Nina finally got home after a tough case when her father, Jackson (John Finn), called, using Tink’s phone. At first, Nina attempted to fight, thinking he was ambushing her after she had been intentionally icing him out. But then she discovered why he actually called: Tink’s husband attacked her so severely that she was now in the hospital. Tink also refused to press charges, but the cops were keeping Brett in the drunk tank overnight.

Nina blamed herself, noting she had pushed Tink to confront Brett about his deception. Jackson, meanwhile, threatened that he would give Brett a dose of his own medicine. “Not if I beat you to it,” Nina replied.

Jackson tried to make a joke about Nina helping from afar, but she was clear she wasn’t kidding: “I’m getting on the next flight to Houston. I’m coming home, Dad.”

“We will get to see how Nina navigates her family’s problems this season,” FBI: MOST WANTED showrunner David Hudgins tells Give Me My Remote via email.

And as she copes with that, it might impact her own relationship, too. “Scola is the one family member she has been able to count on through all of this,” Hudgins says. “As she struggles to handle her own guilt and resentment, things between her and Scola may start to bubble due to their very different upbringings.”

Nina diving headfirst into helping her sister also means her estrangement from her father has come to an end, at least temporarily.

“While Nina and her father don’t agree on much, there’s one thing they can wholeheartedly agree on—they love Tink,” Hudgins points out. “As they both navigate this sensitive situation, they may find out they are a lot more similar than they’d both like to admit.”
