FOUND’s Gabi (Shanola Hampton) and Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) are in a similar predicament on the Thursday, February 13 episode of the NBC drama: Both are in police custody. (Gabi for her kidnapping of Sir; Sir, for his many crimes.)

“For Gabi, it is very much her wanting to have everybody be safe so she can now start her healing process—and that healing comes from paying for what she did,” Hampton tells Give Me My Remote in the video below. “That is the whole goal. She really, really does not believe she should get away with anything. And so this is almost a relief for her to finally be going to jail.”

Though Gosselaar points out this isn’t the first time Sir has been imprisoned—after all, he spent season 1 locked up, though Gabi was the one controlling that—his new state of being “was bound to happen.”

“Now that he’s in this position, he’s still fighting for control,” Gosselaar says. “So that’s what you’re seeing, is someone who still wants to stay in the picture. And I think that Gabi has had the opportunity to completely shut him out and she hasn’t. So there is some truth to his madness, in a way, that she needs him in some weird way.”

“Missing While Misidentified” also goes back to the initial days of Gabi taking Sir hostage.

“Sonay Hoffman wrote such a layered and beautiful script, full of nuances, and it was truly an actor’s dream to bring that particular script to life,” Hampton gushes. “[In those flashbacks] you’re dealing with the Margaret situation, Gabi’s dealing with her grief, and then the decision to bring Sir in.”

“There’s this one scene in the kitchen where Trent is in the house, Dahn is in the house, Margaret’s in the house, Sir is down in the basement, Gabi’s figuring out Sir [while] still trying to be there for Margaret,” she continues. “It was so beautifully written. It was a dream to play this one. I’m so excited for the audience to see episode 2×12 because I think it just serves in every way.”

As for Sir and Gabi, “those basement scenes are intense and gritty and nasty,” Hampton previews. “And you’re with a partner, for me, that I trust completely, which is a gift as an artist. So I’m so excited for 2×12, as you can see.”
