Let’s talk about Sunday night’s TV!
SAG Awards: Well, it was chaotic. I wanted to hide behind a pillow multiple times from secondhand embarrassment. Jane Fonda’s speech was empowering and I hope the people in that room (and watching it on television) took note. There were a number of great montages. But, yikes, the sound issues were a problem. Hopefully next year they figure out a better solution.
FAMILY GUY: Yep, I absolutely buy Joe wouldn’t react with a laugh to Peter’s jokes and it would make Peter spiral. As silly as it seems, it’s a good way to utilize modern tech in current episodes.
THE EQUALIZER: For as serious as the Big Ben situation is, I’m glad Dante and his brother didn’t instantly become best friends or mortal enemies after their first meeting. They have issues. There is very valid resentment there. Dante opened the door for his brother to know his family by the end of the hour, but James wasn’t quite ready to take that step. That’s valid. That’s fair. And if they get there at some point, hopefully it will feel earned.
GROSSE POINTE GARDEN SOCIETY: This was an interesting pilot. I wanted it to be a little more soapy, but there was enough there—and the cast/creative team is strong enough—that I’ll tune in for more.
