FOUND Post-Mortem: Shanola Hampton and Mark-Paul Gosselaar Break Down ‘Missing While Matched’

[Warning: This post contains spoilers for the Thursday, February 27 episode of FOUND.]

On paper, FOUND’s Gabi (Shanola Hampton) and Sir (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) are the most estranged they can be now that the latter is locked up. But Sir has never been content to let Gabi go, and on the Thursday, February 27 episode, “Missing While Matched,” Gabi found herself frustrated she couldn’t find it in herself to block his attempts to contact her.

“I think the state of it now is Gabrielle figuring out why,” Hampton tells Give Me My Remote in the video. “Why can she not stop the cycle? Or why can’t she block him?…She’s doing a game of stay away, which she feels is the healthiest at this point.”

“But no matter if they’re not physically in the room, his presence is still all over her walls and her clothes and her car,” she continues. “Like, everywhere. He’s still everywhere. So she’s still in the process of, ‘Why can’t she cleanse?’”

Sir, for his part, won’t make it easy, either. He instigated an attack in prison, hoping it would prompt Gabi to come. When Trent (Brett Dalton) showed up in the aftermath, Sir made it clear that Gabi might not be there, but it didn’t change the fact that she was forever connected to him.

“[Gabi not being able to let go,] that’s by design,” Gosselaar acknowledges. “ I think that Sir does everything in his power to make sure that he stays in the conversation. That he stays a part of her DNA, and whether that’s through other people at M&A which we’ll see…but he does everything in his power to make sure that there’s some connection. She’ll assert her power, but, you know, we’ll see how far she can hang on.”
